The Welcome Centre
The Welcome Centre is located at 4, Galsklintvej in Middelfart. If you have not bought a ticket online, you can purchase it here. It is a bit more expensive to purchase the ticket at the Welcome Centre. This is why we recommend that you buy your ticket online. This way, you save money and avoid having to queue.
The Welcome Centre has alternating exhibitions about the bridge and its history – so you get a glimpse of and can empathise with the working conditions of the builders.
Bridgewalking is not suitable for wheelchair users and people with physical handicaps, but the exhibitions at the Welcome Centre are accessible to everyone.
You will be welcomed by a guide who will give you thorough safety instructions and provide you with coveralls you will have to wear on top of your own clothes when you climb on to the bridge. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that are suitable for the time of the year. It is also a good idea to wear sensible shoes or boots – preferably with rubber soles.
You will go out together on to the catwalk leading to the stair turret where you will be hooked to a safety system. As you walk, the ground will get further and further away, and may be at some point you will get that sinking feeling in your stomach?
